Morning Dreams

Sometimes it occurs to me, that dreams are something more than what we realize. And yesterday, my feelings on this subject were reinforced. Let me elaborate. It was a nice normal dream, I was in a village in Punjab, traveling through an asphalt road, surrounded by crayon-colored-green farms. I was visiting a friend's place. There was a marriage involved, I vaguely remember. There are some inconsequential details, which I will skip (like a buffalo broke my slippers). But I know what the dream was about. I know also why I was dreaming it. It was because I had slept to my friends conversation with his mother and aunt on the phone, of which I could hear the other side too, in a faint electronic voice though. The dream was basically built around that. And then suddenly, out of nowhere, as if there was a cross-connection, I saw another friend from a totally different social-circle, an old school friend to be specific. I saw him on a TV, playing in a c-grade movie.

Anyway, that is not the moot point, what is of gravity is that he had no role in the dream's central plot, he was more like a commercial break in a movie, and aptly so placed on a TV screen.

What is interesting is that when I woke up, I saw that he had texted me, wishing me happy-birthday. What can this mean, I pondered. He must have been thinking about me for a second, inside his mind, in his thoughts. And I was in a state of receiving signals, if you can call it that, and tuned to his frequency, hence got his image in my dream. How incredible it would have been, if he had wished me happy-birthday in the dream? But he didn't. Still... and you see, these things can only be observed or verified in these days of connectivity.

Not the first time this has happened. The chance of this dream being a coincidence is quite low, according to my calculations. It is not even something supernatural, just seems two or three discoveries short from an explanation. You and I have heard people say, morning-dreams come true, what they must have meant, instead, was that it had some connections with the reality.
